Outpatient hematological-oncological care at our center is always provided from a holistic perspective.
Patients are managed by the center’s doctors during all phases of diagnosis and therapy in consultation with the cooperating practices or hospitals.
Referrals and arrangements for inpatient treatment are organized by the doctors and staff for the patients.
All information on diagnostics and treatment as well as aftercare is collected in our center and made available to patients and treating physicians at all times.
This ensures that all diagnostic steps are carried out swiftly, especially during the often distressing phase of initial tumor diagnostics.
Our patients have a constant point of contact with whom they know they are in good hands.
All diagnostic and treatment data is documented in a standardized manner and can be accessed at any time during the course of treatment.
All relevant decisions are regularly discussed in tumor conferences with experts from a wide range of disciplines.
This saves patients unnecessary journeys and waiting times.
The respective disease situation can always be addressed, even at short notice.
Due to the immense and rapid increase in knowledge in the fields of hematology and oncology, it is essential to associate with higher-level professional societies in order to be able to transfer the latest scientific findings into everyday clinical practice.
For this reason, the Hamburg-Holstein Oncology Network is a member of the following specialist societies:
To improve regional cooperation with general practitioners and specialists, the doctors in the Hamburg-Holstein oncology network contribute their services to care networks such as the Praxisring Südstormarn and the Gesundheitszentrum Hamburg-Ost.
There is also a networked cooperation with gastroenterology practices focusing on prevention (early detection of cancer) and gastroenterological oncology (treatment planning for esophageal, stomach and rectal cancer before surgery).
In our practices, together with the clinics of the Asklepios Tumor Center Hamburg and the Institute for Hematopathology Hamburg, individualized or personalized cancer therapy is already being practiced intensively.
The entire spectrum of immunological markers and molecular genetic alterations is analyzed at the time of the initial diagnosis of cancer, so that targeted tumor therapy can be started as an initial therapy if necessary.
Classic chemotherapies are increasingly losing importance in cancer treatment in favor of new molecular and immunological approaches, but are still too often used “up front”.
Regular participation in the organ-specific tumor conferences of the Asklepios Tumor Center Hamburg ensures precise intersectoral cooperation between our practices and the clinics and seamless digital information transfer, which provides our patients with the most up-to-date therapy and guarantees coverage of costs by health insurance companies, even for highly innovative drugs, some of which have not yet been approved in Germany.
